How do I join a Hungry Tourist journey?
Go to the tour page that interests you and fill out the inquiry form. You will receive a confirmation from us, and we will then continue the conversation by WhatsApp. If you do not use WhatsApp, simply reply to your welcome email and let us know.
Can I book directly on the website?
No. The next step is always a WhatsApp or email conversation. Once availability is confirmed and the fit feels right, you will be asked to pay a deposit in order to secure your place.
Are the restaurants guaranteed?
Any restaurant specifically named on a tour page is part of the confirmed journey, except in cases of force majeure or circumstances beyond our control. If a restaurant, chef, hotel, guide, or experience is not specifically named and confirmed, it should be understood as subject to availability, timing, and final planning.
What is included in a group tour?
Each tour page explains what is included for that specific journey. In general, our tours include the main meals, experiences, guidance, planning, and hosted access described on the tour page. Hotels, flights, transportation, drinks, and extras depend on the specific tour and will always be made clear before payment.
Do you organize private journeys?
Yes. Private Journeys are built around your dream, your timing, your group, and the kind of experience you are hoping to have. Food is always the center, but the journey can also include culture, hotels, guides, markets, artisans, museums, countryside, design, craft, and more.
Can you help with hotels?
Yes, when needed. For private journeys, we can include hotel suggestions or help shape the full program around hotels, restaurants, guides, transportation, and cultural experiences. For group tours, hotel inclusion depends on the specific journey and will be clearly stated on the tour page.
Can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions?
We always need to know about allergies, dietary restrictions, and important health or mobility needs before confirming anything. Some restaurants can accommodate certain needs. Others cannot. We will be clear with you before the journey is confirmed.
How many people are usually in a group?
Our journeys are intentionally small. In Japan, we normally cap the group at around 9 guests so we can fit small and intimate counters. In most other destinations, groups are usually capped around 12. The exact number depends on the destination and the tables involved, but the group must always be small enough for the experience to work properly.
Why do you ask people to apply or inquire instead of simply booking?
Because the table matters. The group matters. The way we arrive matters. These are not ordinary travel products, and many of the experiences depend on trust, timing, and fit. We want to make sure the journey is right for you, and that you are right for the journey.
How do I hear about new journeys?
Join our mailing list. That is where we announce new journeys, rare tables, events, and occasional notes from the road first.
